The system delivers 2.0 liters of potable water through a bite valve and hose assembly and is purpose-built for deployment windows of two to four hours, environment dependent. It operates in two configurations: standalone backpack mode using removable shoulder straps, and MOLLE-integrated mode mounted directly to the PALS webbing of a plate carrier, chest rig, or assault pack. The integrated configuration minimizes equipment profile and reduces snag hazards, keeping hydration directly within the operator's loadout without adding a separate pack.

Proper bladder preparation is critical to system readiness. The protocol requires visual inspection for cracks or discoloration, filling with potable water while leaving an air gap, sealing and inverting to test for leaks, purging air from the hose before insertion, and routing the hose through the designated port at the top of the carrier. The bite valve On/Off switch must be confirmed in the off position before movement to prevent passive leakage onto mission-critical equipment.

Post-operation sustainment is a non-negotiable step in maintaining this system. The bladder and hose assembly must be emptied, washed with warm soapy water, thoroughly rinsed, and dried completely after every use. The bladder should be hung inverted with interior walls separated to allow full air circulation, as failure to dry the system completely creates conditions for bacterial and mold growth.

Field Application Steps

1. INSPECT THE BLADDER AND HOSE: Visually examine the 2.0L bladder and hose assembly for cracks, discoloration, or foreign material. Confirm the screw-cap seal is present and fully intact before filling.

2. FILL THE BLADDER: Unscrew the main cap and fill the bladder with potable water, leaving a small air gap to prevent excess internal pressure. Do not overfill.

3. SEAL AND LEAK-TEST: Securely tighten the cap and invert the bladder to confirm no leakage from the main seal. Verify the hose is firmly connected at the bladder base.

4. PURGE AIR FROM THE HOSE: Hold the bladder upright, elevate the bite valve above the bladder level, and squeeze to expel all air from the hose. This prevents sloshing and ensures immediate water flow on first draw.

5. INSERT BLADDER AND ROUTE HOSE: Slide the filled bladder into the main zippered compartment and route the hose through the designated opening at the top of the pack.

6. SELECT DEPLOYMENT CONFIGURATION: For standalone use, attach removable shoulder straps to the top and bottom buckles, don the pack, and cinch straps until the carrier sits high and tight against the upper back. For MOLLE-integrated use, detach and store the shoulder straps, then align the carrier centered on the rear plate bag of your vest at the correct operational height.

7. WEAVE MOLLE STRAPS (INTEGRATED CONFIG ONLY): Starting from the top, pass the carrier straps under the first PALS row, then back through the first carrier loop. Continue the over-under pattern through all available PALS webbing, alternating between vest and carrier webbing on every pass. This step is critical. An improperly woven strap creates a loose, unstable load that can snag or detach under movement.

8. SECURE THE MOLLE SNAP: Once fully woven, fasten the snap at the bottom of each MOLLE strap. A correctly woven strap will be extremely tight with no slack. Pull-test the carrier after mounting to confirm stability before operation.

9. ROUTE AND SECURE THE HOSE: Route the hydration hose over one shoulder and secure it using elastic keepers, the D-ring, or available loops on the vest's shoulder pads. Position the bite valve for unobstructed access without requiring head movement.

10. CONFIRM BITE VALVE POSITION: Verify the On/Off switch on the bite valve is set to the off position before beginning movement. Switch to on only when actively drinking to prevent slow leaks that can saturate electronics or mission-critical gear.

11. POST-OPERATION SUSTAINMENT: After every use, completely drain the bladder, wash the bladder and hose with warm soapy water using a brush kit, and rinse all cleaning solution thoroughly from the system. Hang the bladder inverted with a spacer or hanger keeping interior walls separated to allow complete air circulation, prop the bite valve open, and hang the hose until fully dry before storing.
