1. CONDUCT PRE-MISSION INSPECTION: Before loading, actuate all zippers fully to confirm smooth operation and check for missing teeth or damaged pulls. Inspect wrap-around handles and shoulder strap for fraying or UV degradation, and examine all seam attachment points for separation or broken threads. Check D-rings, clips, and plastic feet for cracks, and inspect the bag interior and exterior for punctures or significant abrasions.
2. PRIORITIZE AND LAYER THE MAIN COMPARTMENT: Place least-likely-needed items at the bottom of the 33" x 16" x 15" main compartment, such as spare uniforms or reserve equipment. Load primary mission gear, such as plate carriers, helmets, and vests, on top for immediate access upon opening.
3. COMPARTMENTALIZE SMALL AND CRITICAL ITEMS: Place all small, high-loss, or sensitive items, including communications batteries, flashlights, and medical components, into the internal mesh pockets. Stage immediate-action items such as tourniquets, gloves, multi-tools, and chem-lights in the external zippered pockets for direct retrieval without opening the main compartment.
4. SECURE THE LOAD: Close the U-shaped zipper completely along its full perimeter. If the zipper requires forcing, the load exceeds proper capacity and must be redistributed to prevent zipper failure and mission compromise.
5. ASSESS AND SELECT CARRY METHOD: Before moving, determine the appropriate carry method based on load weight and distance. For heavy loads or team carries, two operators use the wrap-around web handles. For single-operator transport over moderate distances, attach and adjust the removable padded shoulder strap for proper fit and situational awareness.
6. TRANSPORT TO STAGING AREA: Move to the forward staging area without dragging the bag, as dragging degrades the polyester fabric and hardware. During pauses in movement, place the bag on stable surfaces using the hard bottom as a platform.
7. ESTABLISH THE FIELD LOCKER: At the staging area, place the bag on a flat, clear surface. The plastic feet will keep it stable and elevated from ground contaminants. Fully unzip the U-shaped lid and fold it back completely to expose all contents for immediate visual identification and access.
8. EXECUTE EQUIPMENT DISTRIBUTION: Team members retrieve designated equipment without disrupting the organization of remaining gear. The bag now functions as a mobile supply point for the duration of the operation.
9. CONDUCT ACCOUNTABILITY INVENTORY AND RE-STOW: Before departure, conduct a visual inventory of all equipment as it is repacked into the bag. No item leaves the scene unaccounted for. Repack in reverse priority order, close all zippers, and reconfigure the carry system for egress.
10. CONDUCT POST-MISSION SUSTAINMENT: Empty the bag completely, brush out loose dirt and debris, and spot clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not machine wash or machine dry. Air dry completely in a shaded, ventilated area before storage to prevent mildew and PU lining degradation. Store in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight, and do not place heavy items on top of the empty bag to avoid deforming the hard bottom.
