Field Application Steps

1. BLADDER INSPECTION: Fill the bladder with air, seal the cap, and apply light pressure to check for leaks at seams and the hose connection. Inspect the interior for any mold, residue, or discoloration before filling.

2. FILLING THE BLADDER: Unscrew the main cap and fill with known potable water only, leaving a small air gap at the top. In temperatures exceeding 90°F, add ice and fill no more than 3/4 full to allow for expansion.

3. SEALING AND PURGING THE HOSE: Tighten the cap securely, invert the bladder, and suck air out of the hose until water flows freely. This step minimizes internal sloshing and reduces noise during movement.

4. ASSEMBLY AND HOSE ROUTING: Insert the filled bladder into the 600D carrier and route the drinking hose through the designated shoulder port on the side corresponding to your non-dominant hand.

5. DONNING THE CARRIER: Put the carrier on like a standard backpack and route the drinking hose over the shoulder. Secure the hose through elastic loops or tuck it under the sternum strap to keep it accessible and snag-free.

6. SHOULDER STRAP ADJUSTMENT: Cinch down the shoulder straps until the carrier sits high and tight against your upper back. The load must remain stable and must not shift during dynamic movement.

7. STERNUM STRAP ADJUSTMENT: Position the sternum strap across your upper chest, fasten, and tighten until the shoulder straps pull inward and the load is secured. Do not overtighten to the point of restricting breathing.

8. ACCESSING WATER IN THE FIELD: Bring the bite valve to your mouth and actuate the on/off switch to the on position. Apply gentle bite pressure while simultaneously sucking to draw water through the dual-action valve.

9. STOWING THE VALVE: Release bite pressure to allow the valve to seal automatically. Return the on/off switch to the off position any time you are engaged in strenuous activity or when the pack is removed.

10. POST-USE DISASSEMBLY AND CLEANING: Remove the bladder from the carrier and disconnect the hose and bite valve. Fill the bladder with warm, soapy water and use a dedicated brush kit to scrub the interior and the full length of the hose. Rinse thoroughly and use cleaning tablets or baking soda to neutralize odors and disinfect.

11. DRYING BEFORE STORAGE: Prop the bladder open for maximum airflow using a bladder hanger or whisk, and hang it upside down to drain completely. The bladder, hose, and cap must be 100% dry before reassembly or storage to prevent microbial growth.
