Quick Overview

A belly band holster is a torso-mounted, elastic concealed carry platform that enables operators to carry a handgun and ancillary equipment securely without a belt, making it the primary solution for non-permissive attire, deep concealment missions, and backup weapon deployment.

The belly band holster system consists of a wide polyester elastic band secured by a hook-and-loop closure, with two ambidextrous pistol slots and two spare magazine pockets built into the body. The system is configurable for strong-side right, strong-side left, cross-draw, or dual-weapon carry, and the magazine pockets can be repurposed for a compact flashlight, folding knife, or tourniquet. Effectiveness is contingent on proper sizing, tensioning, and use with an appropriate cover garment. This platform is intended for sub-compact to medium-frame semiautomatic pistols and revolvers only.

As a soft-sided holster, this system does not provide the rigid trigger guard protection of a Kydex or molded leather holster, and the operator must account for this limitation at every stage of deployment. Re-holstering a loaded firearm into the worn band is a high-risk action because the elastic slot collapses after the draw. Standard protocol requires removing the entire band from the body before re-holstering. Objects such as drawstrings or garment edges entering the trigger guard during movement represent a significant and ongoing hazard.

Readiness of this system is determined by a pre-use inspection covering three criteria: elasticity recovery of the band and pockets, stitching integrity around all slots, and closure bond strength of the hook-and-loop fastener. Elastic is a consumable material and high heat exposure permanently degrades its fibers, directly compromising weapon retention. The holster must be immediately and permanently removed from service if it fails any inspection point.

Field Application Steps

1. CLEAR THE WEAPON: Visually and physically inspect your firearm to confirm it is unloaded. Remove all ammunition from the immediate workspace before any further action.

2. SELECT CARRY POSITION: Determine your intended carry location on the torso, such as appendix, 3 o'clock, or 4 o'clock. This decision dictates where the pistol slot must be positioned before you don the band.

3. POSITION THE BAND: With the firearm not yet holstered, wrap the elastic band around your chosen torso position. Confirm the pistol slot aligns precisely with your intended draw position before applying tension.

4. APPLY TENSION AND SECURE CLOSURE: Pull the band taut so it supports the full weight of a loaded firearm without sagging, but not so tight as to restrict breathing or movement. Fasten the hook-and-loop closure with maximum surface area contact and tug the band to confirm it is secure before proceeding.

5. HOLSTER THE FIREARM: Using your non-dominant hand, hold the mouth of the elastic pistol slot open. Insert the firearm muzzle-first, seating it completely, and visually confirm the elastic material fully covers the trigger guard.

6. LOAD ANCILLARY POCKETS: Insert spare magazine or magazines, a flashlight, or other tools into the smaller elastic pockets. Orient magazines with rounds facing forward for a consistent and efficient reload.

7. DON THE COVER GARMENT: Place your shirt or other cover garment over the fully staged holster system before conducting any movement or function checks.

8. CONDUCT A FUNCTION CHECK: Bend at the waist, twist your torso, sit, and stand. Verify weapon security, concealment with no excessive printing, and comfort with no chafing or restricted movement across all positions.

9. REHEARSE THE DRAW STROKE: With an unloaded firearm only, rehearse clearing the cover garment and acquiring a firm firing grip. Identify and resolve any snags, and repeat until the draw stroke is smooth and consistent. Proceed to live carry only after demonstrated proficiency.
