Quick Overview

A concealed carry bag is a load-bearing platform worn cross-body that enables operators to carry a concealed handgun, communications equipment, and medical supplies in urban environments where on-body carry is not feasible.

The Rothco Compact Tactisling is configured for low-profile urban operations, providing immediate on-the-move access to all compartments without pack removal. Its rear CCW compartment sits closest to the body and features a loop-lined interior with a thumb-snap closure designed to accept a hook-backed holster. The main padded compartment accommodates a tablet and essential mission items, while the front zippered pouches stage rapid-access gear including a tourniquet, spare magazines, and a flashlight. MOLLE webbing on the front and side panels supports attachment of modular pouches such as an IFAK.

Stability during dynamic movement is managed through two primary systems: the main padded shoulder strap worn cross-body, and a secondary stabilizing strap that forms a secure triangle to lock the pack in place during foot pursuit or crowd navigation. For a right-handed operator, the main strap clip attaches to the lower right D-ring, positioning the pack over the left shoulder with the CCW compartment oriented for dominant-hand access. Pack fit should ride high and tight, not low and loose, to maintain access speed and load control.

Off-body concealed carry from a sling pack is classified as an advanced skill requiring extensive dry-fire and live-fire training specific to this platform. The draw stroke requires the operator to aggressively swing the pack to the front of the body, stabilize the top of the pack with the non-dominant hand, defeat the thumb-snap retention, and execute a standard draw to target. The user bears sole legal responsibility for compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws governing concealed carry.

Field Application Steps

1. ESTABLISH CARRY SIDE: Identify your dominant hand and attach the main strap clip to the D-ring on the corresponding lower side of the pack body. For a right-handed operator, clip to the lower right D-ring so the strap rides over the left shoulder.

2. INSTALL THE HOLSTER SYSTEM: Press your hook-backed holster firmly onto the loop-lined panel inside the rear CCW compartment, ensuring full surface contact. Practice defeating the thumb-snap closure and completing a full draw stroke repeatedly before carrying live.

3. STAGE YOUR LOADOUT BY COMPARTMENT: Place the firearm only in the rear CCW compartment. Load the main padded compartment with the tablet, notebook, and water. Secure impact-sensitive items such as eyewear or small electronics in the hard-shell top pouch. Stage your comms device, spare magazines, tourniquet, and flashlight in the front zippered pouches. Attach a discreet IFAK to the MOLLE webbing if the mission requires it.

4. DON AND ADJUST THE PACK: Sling the pack over your non-dominant shoulder so it rests on your back. Adjust the main strap until the pack rides high and tight against the body, eliminating sag and maintaining access speed.

5. CONFIGURE THE STABILIZING STRAP FOR MOBILITY LEVEL: For static or low-mobility postures, leave the secondary stabilizing strap disconnected. For high-mobility situations such as foot pursuit or navigating crowds, connect and tighten the stabilizing strap to lock the pack in place and prevent shifting.

6. ACCESS GENERAL EQUIPMENT ON THE MOVE: Grasp the main shoulder strap and pull it forward. The pack will rotate and slide along the strap, bringing the front pouches to your chest. This action can be executed while walking without breaking stride.

7. EXECUTE THE CCW DRAW STROKE: Aggressively swing the pack to the front of your body, positioning the rear CCW compartment directly in your workspace. Place your non-dominant hand on top of the pack to stabilize it, then use your dominant hand to decisively defeat the thumb-snap. Drive your dominant hand into the compartment, acquire a full firing grip, and execute a standard draw stroke to target.

8. CONDUCT PRE-DEPLOYMENT INSPECTION: Before each use, visually and physically inspect all straps for fraying, check plastic buckles for cracks and confirm positive lock-up, open and close all zippers, inspect load-bearing seams for thread separation, and verify that the holster hook-and-loop connection is fully secure.

9. PERFORM POST-DEPLOYMENT SUSTAINMENT: Clean the pack with a damp cloth and mild soap only. Do not machine wash. Air dry completely before storing. Store in a cool, dry location out of direct sunlight to prevent UV degradation of the 600D polyester. Conduct a full loadout audit regularly to confirm the presence and serviceability of all mission-critical contents.
