Quick Overview

The Rothco Deluxe Folding Stool is a field-deployable seating and storage asset used by range instructors, security personnel, and field operators to reduce fatigue and maintain organized access to mission-essential equipment during static and semi-static operations.

The stool integrates three functional component groups into a single deployable asset. The reinforced steel cross-braced frame provides structural stability when fully extended and locked. The 600D polyester seat distributes operator weight across the frame while serving as the integrated cover for the zippered storage pouch beneath it. Dual carry handles allow one-handed transport between operational sites when the stool is collapsed.

Storage capability is divided into two distinct zones for deliberate gear organization. The integrated zippered main pouch is designed for less-frequent but critical items such as tool kits, spare batteries, and first aid supplies, and it must be zipped closed during transport to secure contents. The quick-access exterior pocket supports high-frequency items like a shot timer, pen, or flashlight, but its open-topped design means it is not suitable for securing sensitive items during movement.

Pre-deployment inspection is a readiness requirement before each use. Operators should visually confirm the steel frame shows no cracks, rust, or bent tubing, verify zipper function on the main pouch, and inspect fabric and handle stitching for fraying or seam separation. Any stool with significant defects must be removed from service until repaired or replaced.

Field Application Steps

1. PRE-DEPLOYMENT GEAR STAGING: Before moving to your operational position, load less-frequent but critical items, such as a tool kit, spare batteries, and first aid supplies, into the main zippered pouch. Stage high-frequency items like a shot timer, pen, and notepad in the exterior pocket for immediate access.

2. SECURE THE MAIN POUCH: Zip the main pouch fully closed before transport. This prevents contents from shifting, falling out, or becoming damaged during movement between sites.

3. SELECT A STABLE SITE: Choose a level surface free of loose rock, significant inclines, and soft mud. Ground stability is the primary factor in preventing collapse or tipping under load.

4. DEPLOY THE FRAME: Grasp opposing sides of the collapsed frame and pull apart firmly and evenly until the stool is fully extended. The seat fabric should become taut when the frame reaches full extension.

5. VERIFY FRAME LOCK: Confirm all four legs are fully seated on the ground. Press the center of the seat to verify the pivot points have locked into load-bearing position before committing full body weight.

6. TAKE YOUR POSITION: Seat yourself by centering your weight directly over the stool. Access the exterior pocket while seated for high-frequency items. To access the main pouch, stand up first, then operate the zipper. Do not attempt to access the main pouch while seated.

7. KEEP FINGERS CLEAR DURING FOLDING AND DEPLOYMENT: Multiple pivot points on the frame are active during both deployment and stowage. Keep fingers and hands clear of all joints throughout these actions to prevent pinching injuries.

8. RECOVERY AND STOWAGE: Remove all items from both pouches before collapsing the stool. Folding with items inside can damage the zipper, fabric, or the contents themselves. Grasp opposing frame sides, push inward to collapse, and align the dual carry handles for transport.

9. POST-USE INSPECTION: Inspect the steel tubing for cracks, rust, or bending, and check all pivot rivets for security. Examine the seat fabric and pouch for rips, tears, or separated seams, paying close attention to stitching at frame connection points. Operate the zipper and inspect carry handle webbing for fraying.

10. CLEAN AND STORE: Wipe soiled surfaces with a damp cloth and mild soap. Allow the stool to air dry completely before stowing to prevent mold, mildew, and frame corrosion. Store the collapsed stool in a dry, climate-controlled environment away from direct sunlight and moisture.
