Field Application Steps

2. LOAD CONFIGURATION: Place heavier, dense items such as ammunition and rations at the bottom of the main compartment and closest to the body to manage center of gravity. Wrap softer items like a poncho or shemagh around harder gear to minimize movement noise, and use small dry bags for any electronics, paper maps, or medical supplies.

3. SECURE THE INTERNAL LOAD: Pull the internal drawstring shroud tight and lock the cord. This step is critical to prevent gear spillage if the pack is inverted or a buckle releases during movement.

4. IDENTIFY AND CLEAR THE MOUNTING POINT: Position the butt pack on the center rear of the duty or pistol belt. Confirm there is no interference with sidearm draw, magazine pouches, or IFAK placement before engaging the mounting hardware.

5. ENGAGE ALICE KEEPERS: Open both metal keepers by sliding the locking gate downward. Hook each keeper over the top edge of the belt, ensuring a full pass-behind contact with the belt material.

After retrieving an item, immediately re-tighten the shroud, close the flap, re-engage the buckles, and pull compression straps tight before resuming movement.

10. POST-OPERATION SUSTAINMENT: Empty all contents and brush off loose dirt and debris. Clean with a damp cloth and mild soap if needed. Do not machine wash or use harsh detergents, as this will degrade the water-resistant lining.

11. DRY AND STORE: Air dry the pack completely with the top flap and drawstring shroud open before storing. Storing damp equipment promotes mildew growth and long-term fabric degradation.

12. DAMAGE ASSESSMENT AND REPAIR: Field-repair minor fabric tears with tactical tape. Any damage to buckles or load-bearing stitching requires professional repair or full unit replacement before the pack is returned to operational readiness.
