Quick Overview

The Rothco MOLLE Concealed Carry Pouch is a PALS-compatible holster platform used by law enforcement, military personnel, and security professionals to carry a primary or secondary handgun on plate carriers, chest rigs, and tactical backpacks when a conventional hip holster is impractical.

The pouch is constructed of 600D polyester and integrates with any MOLLE/PALS platform via two rear vertical straps with snap closures. Its U-shaped dual-zipper design allows the operator to rip the main compartment open from a corner, fully exposing the firearm grip in a single motion. An internal loop field provides the mounting surface for the included universal hook-and-loop holster insert, which can be positioned vertically or canted to establish a repeatable, customized draw stroke. A separate front zippered pocket stores spare magazines or administrative items without interfering with firearm access.

Deployment follows a three-phase protocol: firearm and holster configuration in a sterile environment using a cleared weapon, platform integration with a final security check confirming zero pouch movement under load, and live-fire validation at an approved range before the setup is carried operationally. The holster insert must completely enclose the trigger guard before any deployment. Re-holstering is treated as a deliberate two-handed administrative action, not a rapid field movement.

Sustained proficiency with this carry method requires ongoing dry-fire and live-fire integration into regular training. The draw stroke is a perishable skill that degrades without practice. Pre-deployment inspection of zippers, paracord pulls, stitching, snaps, and the hook-and-loop bond is mandatory before each use.

Field Application Steps

1. CLEAR AND CONFIRM THE WEAPON: Unload the firearm per established protocol and visually and physically confirm the chamber is empty before handling the holster insert or pouch in any configuration step.

2. ADJUST THE HOLSTER INSERT: Lay the universal hook-and-loop holster insert flat, place the cleared firearm on it, and wrap both sides tightly to achieve a secure friction-fit. The wrap must completely enclose the trigger guard with no exposure or possibility of external manipulation.

3. SET HOLSTER POSITION ON THE INTERNAL LOOP FIELD: Open the main compartment and press the adjusted holster insert firmly against the internal loop field. Test vertical and canted left/right positions to identify the placement that produces the most natural and unimpeded draw stroke for your body geometry and platform mounting location.

4. CONDUCT DRY-FIRE DRAW REHEARSAL: With the cleared weapon holstered, practice the full draw sequence: stabilize the base of the pouch with the support hand, grip the paracord zipper pulls with the dominant hand, and execute a firm continuous pull to open the compartment fully. Acquire a full firing grip and complete the draw stroke. Repeat until the motion is smooth and consistent before proceeding.

5. ATTACH THE POUCH TO THE PLATFORM: Weave the two rear MOLLE straps through the PALS webbing on your plate carrier, chest rig, or pack, alternating between platform and pouch webbing rows. Secure both snap closures and verify the fit is tight and locked.

6. LOAD THE FRONT ZIPPERED POCKET: Place spare magazines, permits, or flat administrative items into the front zippered pocket. Confirm that pocket contents do not create bulk that interferes with gripping the main compartment zipper pulls during the draw stroke.

7. EXECUTE THE FINAL SECURITY CHECK: Vigorously shake the fully loaded pouch and platform. There must be minimal to no movement. An unstable attachment will compromise the draw stroke and is not acceptable for operational deployment.

8. CONDUCT LIVE-FIRE VALIDATION: At an approved range, load the firearm per operational protocol and holster it within the pouch. Conduct live-fire draw drills from the deployed carry position, beginning at slow speed with full focus on mechanical consistency and safety. Increase speed only as demonstrated proficiency warrants. Live-fire validation is mandatory before this setup is carried in the field.

9. PERFORM PRE-DEPLOYMENT INSPECTION BEFORE EACH USE: Operate both zippers through their full range of motion, check paracord pulls for fraying, inspect all seams and MOLLE strap attachment points for pulled threads, confirm snaps engage under pressure, and check the hook-and-loop surfaces for lint or debris that could degrade retention of the holster insert.
