Quick Overview

The Rothco MOLLE Tactical Laptop Briefcase is a modular load-carriage system designed for operators who need to transport electronics, sensitive documents, and field equipment securely across both administrative and dynamic operational environments.

The briefcase is built around a 600 Denier polyester body with a removable padded laptop sleeve that fits computers up to 15.6 inches. A wrap-around expandable gusset zipper increases main compartment volume for larger loads, while a front zippered organizer pocket and a rear open-top document slot allow compartmentalized, rapid-access organization of administrative items. The system is water-resistant, not waterproof, and mission-critical electronics require dry bag protection during heavy precipitation.

MOLLE webbing runs along the front and sides, enabling the operator to attach compatible pouches including IFAKs, magazine pouches, and general-purpose organizers by weaving attachment straps through the webbing rows. All attached pouches must pass a pull-test before deployment. Load carriage is handled by dual reinforced nylon carry handles with a hook-and-loop wrap and a padded, adjustable shoulder strap connected to two metal D-rings. D-ring integrity must be verified at every pre-mission inspection, as failure under load is a mission-ending event.

Readiness sustainment requires pre-mission inspection of fabric, stitching, hardware, and MOLLE webbing, followed by post-mission cleaning with mild soap and water. The bag must be air dried completely before storage and kept in a cool, dry environment away from direct sunlight and compressive loads to prevent permanent structural deformation.

Field Application Steps

1. INITIAL CONFIGURATION: Lay the empty briefcase flat on a stable surface and unzip all compartments fully to allow inspection and unobstructed loading access.

2. PROTECT SENSITIVE ELECTRONICS: Confirm the laptop is powered down, insert it into the Removable Padded Laptop Sleeve, and secure the sleeve. Place the sleeve assembly into the main compartment against the rear wall to maximize stability and impact protection during transport.

3. LOAD THE MAIN COMPARTMENT: Place larger, less-frequently accessed items such as chargers, notebooks, and binders in front of the laptop sleeve. If the load volume exceeds standard capacity, unzip the Expandable Gusset Zipper to increase compartment depth.

4. ORGANIZE ADMINISTRATIVE ITEMS: Load the Front Zippered Organizer Pocket systematically, placing pens, keys, mobile devices, and small tools into designated slots. Consistent placement prevents shifting and enables quick retrieval under operational conditions.

5. ATTACH EXTERNAL MOLLE MODULES: Identify required external pouches, such as an IFAK or magazine pouch, and weave each attachment strap correctly through the MOLLE webbing rows on the front of the briefcase. Ensure all straps are fully interlaced and snapped secure, then conduct a firm pull-test on each pouch before proceeding.

6. SECURE DOCUMENTS: Place files and folders into the main compartment. Place any documents requiring immediate access, such as access rosters, maps, or boarding passes, into the Rear Document Slot for retrieval without opening the main compartment.

7. CONFIGURE FOR CARRY: Attach the Padded Shoulder Strap to both metal D-rings and adjust length so the bag sits at the hip or lower back. For heavy loads, shorten the strap to raise the center of gravity and reduce operator fatigue. Use the reinforced carry handles for vehicle transitions and short-distance movement.

8. CONDUCT PRE-DEPARTURE INSPECTION: Verify D-ring integrity, check all zippers for smooth operation without strain, confirm all MOLLE pouches are secure, and assess total load balance before departing. Do not force any zipper under load. Reduce internal contents if resistance is present.
