The stove is engineered for thermal conversion of both scavenged solid biomass, including twigs, bark, and pine cones, and manufactured solid fuels such as fuel tablets and charcoal. Its four-walled hinged-panel body contains and shields the flame while directing convective heat upward toward the cooking vessel. An integrated perforated fuel grate elevates fuel off the ground to facilitate oxygen intake from below, improving combustion efficiency. Two cross-bar pot supports insert into slots at the top of the stove body to create a stable elevated cooking platform.

Deployment follows a five-phase sequence: site preparation, stove assembly, fuel loading and ignition, cooking and fuel management, and breakdown with stowage. The operator selects level, non-combustible ground with a minimum five-foot clearance radius from flammable materials, orients the fuel opening into the wind, and feeds small twigs continuously through the side opening to sustain consistent flame height without choking airflow. For water purification, the operational standard is a sustained rolling boil for 60 seconds.

The system has defined operational limits that directly affect mission safety and effectiveness. Maximum recommended cookware load is 2 kg. Heating efficiency degrades in high winds, cold ambient temperatures, and with wet fuel. The stove is rated for single-person meal and beverage preparation only, and is not suitable for group cooking or complex meal tasks.

Field Application Steps

1. SELECT AND PREPARE YOUR SITE: Deploy the stove on level, non-combustible ground such as mineral soil or a flat rock. Establish a minimum five-foot clearance radius from all flammable materials before proceeding.

2. ASSESS WIND AND PROCURE FUEL: Determine wind direction so you can orient the stove's fuel opening into the wind during assembly. Gather dry, dead biomass ranging from matchstick to pencil diameter and break it into 3 to 4 inch lengths to fit the combustion chamber.

3. ERECT THE STOVE BODY: Remove the stove body and both cross-bar supports from the carry pouch. Unfold the hinged panels fully into a stable, box-like configuration and confirm all panels are seated before proceeding.

4. INSTALL THE CROSS-BAR POT SUPPORTS: Insert both cross-bar supports into the corresponding slots at the top of the stove walls. Confirm they are fully seated and form a level platform capable of supporting your cooking vessel.

5. LOAD FUEL AND ESTABLISH TINDER BED: For biomass, place fine tinder such as jute twine, cotton with accelerant, or fine wood shavings at the center of the integrated fuel grate. Arrange the smallest twigs loosely in a crisscross or log-cabin formation above the tinder to maintain air gaps. For solid fuel tablets, place one or more tablets directly onto the grate.

6. IGNITE THROUGH THE SIDE OPENING: Using a lighter, ferrocerium rod, or match, ignite the tinder or fuel tablet through the main side opening. Allow the initial flame to establish fully before adding additional fuel.

7. PLACE YOUR COOKING VESSEL: Once a stable flame is confirmed, carefully set your filled cooking vessel onto the cross-bar pot supports. Do not place the vessel before the flame is established.

8. MANAGE FUEL FOR SUSTAINED COMBUSTION: Feed small twigs through the side opening continuously to maintain consistent flame height. Avoid over-packing the combustion chamber, as restricting airflow will choke the fire and reduce heating efficiency.

9. CONFIRM TASK COMPLETION: Monitor the cooking vessel until the operational task is complete. For water purification, the standard is a sustained rolling boil for a minimum of 60 seconds.

10. EXECUTE CONTROLLED COOL DOWN: Extinguish remaining embers and allow the stove to cool completely through passive cool down. Do not handle while hot and do not use water to accelerate cooling, as rapid temperature change can warp the metal.

11. CLEAR THE SITE: Once the stove is fully cooled, empty all ash and unburnt fuel. Dispose of ash per Leave No Trace principles by scattering widely or burying.

12. DISASSEMBLE AND STOW: Remove the cross-bar supports, collapse the stove body to its flat configuration, and wipe away excess soot. Return all components, stove body, both cross-bar supports, and carry pouch, to the protective carry pouch for transport.
