The unit's four-leg folding steel frame supports a maximum rated static load of 260 lbs, provides a 16-inch working height, and includes six single-use commode bags for immediate deployment. Its elevated, stable platform is a meaningful capability improvement over improvised methods, particularly for personnel managing injury, age-related mobility limits, or physical conditions that make squatting hazardous.

Deployment protocol requires site selection at a minimum of 200 feet from any water source, trail, or campsite, approximately 70 adult paces. The operator selects firm, level ground, orients the unit downwind of the main camp, and establishes an adjacent handwashing station before the system is placed into service. Two containment methods are supported: Method A uses the included commode bag and removable bag ring secured by the seat's weight, and Method B adds a user-supplied 2-gallon bucket as secondary containment for spill prevention and added rigidity.

Post-use protocol requires sealing and packing out every used bag in accordance with Leave No Trace principles. Plastic commode bags must never be buried. Field Application Steps

1. SELECT AND PREPARE THE SITE: Position the unit a minimum of 200 feet (approximately 70 adult paces) from any water source, trail, or campsite. Choose firm, level ground and orient the site downwind of the main camp to minimize odor impact.

2. ESTABLISH A HANDWASHING STATION: Place soap and water or hand sanitizer directly adjacent to the latrine area before the system is placed into service. This is a non-negotiable hygiene protocol, not an optional add-on.

3. DEPLOY THE STEEL SUPPORT FRAME: Unfold all four legs outward until fully extended and stable. Place the frame on your selected ground surface and apply firm downward pressure to the seat area to confirm all four legs make solid contact.

4. CONFIRM STABILITY BEFORE USE: The unit must not wobble under any conditions. If any leg is not fully seated, reposition or re-level the frame before proceeding.

5. INSTALL THE COMMODE BAG (METHOD A): Raise the molded plastic seat to the full vertical position. Fully open one commode bag and drape it through the frame opening. Fold 4 to 6 inches of the bag's top lip outward over the removable bag ring, then place the ring onto the top of the frame.

6. LOCK THE BAG IN PLACE: Lower the seat onto the bag ring. The weight of the seat locks the ring and bag securely, preventing movement during use.

7. OPTIONAL ENHANCED SETUP (METHOD B): Place a user-supplied 2-gallon bucket on level ground beneath the frame before installing the bag. Follow all Method A steps, allowing the body of the commode bag to line the interior of the bucket for secondary containment and spill prevention.

8. EXECUTE POST-USE DISPOSAL: Lift the seat and bag ring together, carefully gathering the top of the commode bag as you lift. Twist the top, tie it shut securely, and use a zip-tie or secondary containment bag if available. Pack the sealed bag out entirely. Never bury plastic commode bags.

9. RESET FOR THE NEXT USER: Install a fresh commode bag using the full Method A or Method B protocol before the next operator uses the system.

10. CONDUCT STOWAGE: Clean and disinfect all surfaces using a 10% bleach solution or appropriate disinfectant and allow the unit to air dry completely. Collapse all four frame legs inward until flat, then store the unit in a designated transport container, kept separate from food, water, and sleep systems at all times.
