The stove's multi-fuel capability is built around a single reversible component: the Reversible Base Plate. Oriented flat side down, it functions as an ash pan for biomass operation, maximizing airflow to feed a wood fire using scavenged deadfall, twigs, or pinecones. Oriented flat side up, it creates a stable platform for the Fuel Cube Plate, containing solid fuel cubes or liquid alcohol for controlled, consistent burns. This single design decision eliminates the need to carry separate stove systems for different fuel types.

The combustion system uses a two-stage airflow architecture. The Vented Cylinder Base draws low-level air intake through side vents, while the Combustion Chamber's upper vents create a chimney effect that pulls oxygen upward, producing a hotter and more efficient burn than an open fire of equivalent fuel volume. The Collapsible Bellowing Straw supports ignition and flame management by delivering a concentrated oxygen stream directly to the flame base, extending the operator's working distance from smoke and heat.

Deployment follows a four-phase protocol: site selection and preparation, stove assembly in the appropriate fuel configuration, fuel loading and ignition, and cooking with controlled shutdown. Post-operation readiness requires full cool-down before disassembly, responsible ash disposal, thorough cleaning, and pre-mission inspection of all components for warping or damage that could compromise stability under load.

Field Application Steps

1. SELECT AND PREPARE YOUR SITE: Identify a stable, level surface that can support the stove's 5.5-inch base without tipping. Clear a minimum 5-foot radius of all combustibles including dry leaves, grass, and debris, and check for low-hanging branches overhead.

2. ASSESS AND MITIGATE WIND: Note wind direction before assembly. If conditions allow, construct a windscreen using rocks or dig a shallow depression to protect the flame and concentrate heat output.

3. UNPACK AND INVENTORY COMPONENTS: Remove all 6 stove components and the Collapsible Bellowing Straw from the Mesh Carry Pouch. Confirm all parts are present and undamaged before assembly.

4. SET THE BASE AND CONFIGURE FOR FUEL MODE: Place the Vented Cylinder Base on the prepared surface. For biomass operation, insert the Reversible Base Plate with the flat side facing DOWN to function as an ash pan with maximum airflow. For solid or liquid fuel operation, insert the Reversible Base Plate with the flat side facing UP, then place the Fuel Cube Plate on the platform to contain fuel and concentrate heat.

5. COMPLETE STOVE ASSEMBLY: Seat the Combustion Chamber firmly on top of the Vented Cylinder Base. Place the Pan and Pot Holder Top onto the Combustion Chamber to complete the cooking interface.

6. PREPARE AND LOAD FUEL: For biomass, break dry twigs and sticks into lengths that fit inside the Combustion Chamber. Place fine tinder at the bottom, such as dry grass or a petroleum jelly-coated cotton ball, and loosely stack pencil-diameter kindling on top with air gaps maintained throughout.

7. IGNITE AND ESTABLISH THE FIRE: Light the tinder from the top opening or through a side vent. Use the Collapsible Bellowing Straw to deliver concentrated airflow to the flame base until kindling is well-lit, then add progressively larger sticks to build a sustained coal bed.

8. PLACE COOKWARE AND MAINTAIN HEAT: Once a consistent flame is established, place your pot or pan securely on the Pan and Pot Holder Top. Add small fuel pieces continuously through the top opening to maintain the desired temperature throughout cooking.

9. EXECUTE CONTROLLED SHUTDOWN: Allow the fire to burn down completely when cooking is finished. If immediate extinguishment is required, apply water or sand carefully until all embers are fully out. Do not handle any stove component until it is completely cool to the touch.

10. CONDUCT POST-OPERATION MAINTENANCE: Dispose of cold ash responsibly by burying in a cathole or packing it out per Leave No Trace protocol. Wipe soot and food residue from all components, use a wire brush for stubborn carbon buildup, and ensure all parts are fully dry before returning them to the Mesh Carry Pouch for storage.
