Field Application Steps

1. PRE-DEPLOYMENT INSPECTION: Un-bag or un-coil the entire rope length and perform a full tactile and visual inspection. Feel for flat spots, lumps, or diameter inconsistencies indicating core damage, and inspect the sheath for cuts, fraying, glazing, or discoloration from chemical or heat exposure. Any discrepancy found immediately retires the rope from service.

2. ANCHOR SYSTEM SELECTION AND RIGGING: Identify a structurally sound, non-movable anchor point rated well beyond the anticipated operational load. Construct a redundant anchor system using two independent equalized points whenever feasible, and confirm all anchor components including webbing and hardware are rated for life-safety use and correctly configured.

3. ROPE DEPLOYMENT AND EDGE PROTECTION: Package the rope in a deployment bag for a clean, fast descent, or flake it carefully onto a ground tarp if a bag is unavailable. 5. CONTROLLED DESCENT EXECUTION: Have the operator weight the system slowly and deliberately before committing fully to the rappel. Descend in a controlled manner and avoid rapid, high-friction movements that generate excessive heat on the sheath and hardware.

6. ROPE RETRIEVAL AND POST-OPERATION INSPECTION: Retrieve the rope carefully and do not drag it over abrasive surfaces. Perform a post-operation inspection identical to the pre-deployment check, noting any sheath damage, glazing, or structural anomalies encountered during the operation.

7. CLEANING AND STORAGE: Clean the rope using certified rope wash or cold water only. Never use detergents, bleach, or chemical solvents. Air dry the rope fully out of direct sunlight before storage, and never use a machine dryer.

8. ROPE LOG UPDATE: Update the rope log with the date, type of use, load conditions, and any notable incidents including shock loads or abrasion contact. This log governs the rope's service life and retirement schedule.
