Quick Overview

The Rothco SWAT Tec Single Lens Tactical Goggle is a polycarbonate eye protection system designed for operators requiring a sealed debris and UV barrier during daylight field operations, vehicle-mounted movement, training environments, and hazardous work.

The goggle's single-piece polycarbonate lens delivers a wide, continuous field of view with shatterproof construction, Smoke Grey tint for solar glare reduction, and UV400 protection blocking UVA and UVB radiation. Anti-fog and anti-scratch coatings mitigate condensation buildup and preserve lens integrity across sustained deployment. The soft foam padding creates a face seal against fine particulates, wind, and dust, while frame vents provide passive air circulation to support anti-fog performance.

Intended use cases include force-on-force training with non-lethal ammunition, live-fire range splashback protection, dismounted and vehicle-mounted field movement through arid or debris-heavy environments, and basic debris protection during mechanical breaching or manual labor. The goggle is not rated to ANSI Z87.1+ or MIL-PRF-32432 ballistic standards and is not a substitute for certified fragmentation protection in firearms or explosive device contexts.

The Smoke Grey lens is optimized exclusively for bright-light and high-glare conditions. Deployment during low-light, dawn, dusk, or nighttime operations will significantly impair visual acuity and is contraindicated for any safety-critical task. Operators must also avoid contact with DEET, fuels, and harsh solvents, which degrade polycarbonate integrity and compromise the protective coatings.

Field Application Steps

1. PRE-DEPLOYMENT INSPECTION: Remove the goggle from its microfiber pouch and inspect the lens for cracks, deep scratches, or deformities. Replace the unit immediately if any structural defects are found.

2. INSPECT FOAM AND STRAP: Confirm the foam padding is fully intact, uncompressed, and firmly attached to the frame. Check the elastic strap for loss of elasticity, fraying, or buckle damage before donning.

3. SIZE THE STRAP BEFORE DONNING: Pre-adjust the elastic strap to approximate fit before placing the goggle on your face. Size slightly smaller for bare-head wear and expand significantly to accommodate a helmet shell.

4. POSITION AND SEAT THE GOGGLE: Place the goggle over both eyes and press the foam padding into even contact with the orbital area. Confirm there are no significant gaps in the seal around the perimeter.

5. SECURE AND TENSION THE STRAP: Pull the strap over the crown of your head or helmet shell, ensuring it sits flat and untwisted. Adjust buckles to achieve a secure, positive-pressure fit that does not restrict circulation or comfort.

6. INTEGRATE WITH HEADWEAR: If wearing a helmet, route the strap over the exterior of the helmet shell and confirm it does not interfere with the helmet retention system or mounted accessories. For hats or beanies, wear the strap over the exterior of the headwear.

7. EXECUTE FINAL FUNCTION CHECK: Perform rapid head movements left, right, up, and down to confirm the goggle does not shift. Verify peripheral vision is clear, unobstructed, and free of visual distortion before moving to the operational area.

8. MANAGE ANTI-FOG LIMITATIONS IN THE FIELD: If fogging occurs due to extreme temperature differential, high humidity, or sustained exertion, briefly break the seal to ventilate the interior when tactical conditions permit. Do not use abrasive materials to wipe the lens interior.

9. POST-MISSION CLEANING AND INSPECTION: After use, rinse heavy particulates under clean, low-pressure water. Clean the lens using only the provided microfiber pouch or a dedicated lens cloth, breathing on the lens to create condensation before wiping in a gentle circular motion.

10. STORE CORRECTLY: Return the goggle to its microfiber pouch after cleaning. Store in a controlled environment away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and heavy equipment that could deform the frame.
