Quick Overview

The Rothco TAP is a high-capacity chest rig designed to carry a primary ammunition and equipment load. It is a versatile system that can be worn as a standalone rig for high mobility or attached directly to a plate carrier to augment an armored loadout.

Field Application Steps

  1. Configure for mission: Choose between the standalone harness for mobility or the direct-attach buckles for plate carrier integration.
  2. Load primary equipment: Secure up to six AR/M-16 magazines with bungee retention and place radios or GPS units in the two end pockets.
  3. Customize with MOLLE: Attach mission-critical pouches such as an IFAK, tourniquet holder, or multi-tool to the three rows of external PALS webbing.
  4. Don and adjust for secure fit: Cinch all shoulder and waist straps until the panel is tight against the body, eliminating sag and bounce during movement.
  5. Perform function check: Conduct rehearsal draws of magazines and confirm the rig does not impede access to other gear or interfere with weapon manipulation.
