Quick Overview

The Rothco Tactical Assault Panel (TAP) is a modular load-bearing platform designed to organize and carry a primary ammunition load and mission-essential equipment for operators conducting reconnaissance, direct action, and vehicle operations.

The TAP is purpose-built to carry six to eight 5.56mm rifle magazines alongside communications and navigation equipment in a stable, accessible configuration. It functions in two authorized setups: Configuration Alpha, which uses the included Y-harness and waist strap for standalone wear optimized for mobility and lower profile, and Configuration Bravo, which attaches directly to a compatible plate carrier via integrated buckles for fully integrated fighting load deployment. Each configuration is selected based on mission parameters, not personal preference.

Operators must understand the TAP's defined scope before deployment. It is strictly a load carriage platform and provides no ballistic, fire, or blade protection. It supplements appropriate personal protective equipment as required by mission parameters and does not replace it under any circumstances. Misclassifying its protective capability is an operator error with serious consequences in high-threat environments.

The TAP's modular architecture supports readiness across a spectrum of operational needs, from rapid-response grab-and-go configurations over minimal kit to fully integrated direct action rigs. Its adaptability makes it a capable field-ready platform when configured correctly, loaded with discipline, and worn in the right context for the assigned mission.

Field Application Steps

1. DETERMINE YOUR CONFIGURATION: Assess mission parameters before setup. If ballistic protection is not required and mobility is the priority, select Configuration Alpha. If the mission requires integration with a plate carrier in a high-threat environment, select Configuration Bravo.

2. CONFIGURE ALPHA — STANDALONE SETUP: Attach the included Y-harness and waist strap to the TAP panel. Adjust all straps to fit the operator's torso securely, ensuring the panel sits stable against the body without restricting movement or breathing.

3. CONFIGURE BRAVO — DIRECT-ATTACH SETUP: Remove the Y-harness from the panel. Align the TAP's integrated buckles and attachment hardware with the compatible plate carrier's front attachment points and secure firmly, confirming no lateral shift or sag before loading.

4. LOAD PRIMARY AMMUNITION: Seat six to eight 5.56mm rifle magazines into the designated magazine pouches. Confirm each magazine is fully seated, retention is engaged, and draw is unobstructed before proceeding.

5. MOUNT COMMUNICATIONS AND NAVIGATION EQUIPMENT: Secure any required comms or navigation equipment to the appropriate pouches or MOLLE attachment points on the panel. Verify all devices are accessible with the support hand without breaking the primary firing grip.

6. CONDUCT LOAD AUDIT: With full kit loaded, perform a deliberate check of all retention systems, buckles, and attachment hardware. Nothing should rattle, shift, or hang loose. Correct any instability before stepping off.

7. CONFIRM PPE COMPLIANCE: Verify that the TAP is being used to supplement, not replace, all required personal protective equipment for the assigned mission. The TAP provides zero ballistic, fire, or blade protection. Appropriate PPE must be worn independently per mission protocol.
