- For severe limb bleeding, apply the windlass tourniquet 2-3 inches above the wound, tighten until bleeding stops, and record the time with the marker.
- For a penetrating chest wound, wipe the wound area clean and firmly apply a vented chest seal, ensuring it is centered over the opening.
- Use trauma pads to apply firm, direct pressure to any other bleeding wounds.
- Position the casualty for shock, keep them warm, and monitor their condition until EMS assumes care.
