Quick Overview

The StatPacks G3+ Advanced Safety Vest is a wearable workstation designed for trained EMS and emergency personnel operating in high-threat environments, providing high-visibility identification, load-bearing capacity, and an active 5-point tear-away safety system for dynamic field deployment.

The G3+ vest functions as a force multiplier across four primary operational contexts: roadway incidents, mass casualty incidents, event medicine, and incident command roles. Its 150 cubic inch capacity is sized for life-saving interventions and immediate assessment tools, including tourniquets, chest seals, trauma shears, pressure dressings, gloves, and triage tags. It is not a replacement for a comprehensive BLS or ALS kit. Operators carry what they need at the point of patient contact, keeping hands free for assessment and movement.

The vest's component systems address three distinct readiness requirements. The Visibility and Identification System uses ANSI-compliant yellow fabric with silver reflective taping and Velcro-backed removable ID panels that allow rapid role designation, including EMS, TRIAGE, COMMAND, or SAFETY. The Load Carriage System provides two zippered front pockets with integrated accessory loops for radios, flashlights, and pens. The Safety and Fit System delivers a 5-point Velcro tear-away configuration at both shoulders, both sides, and the front zipper assembly, enabling emergency doffing during entanglement events critical to roadway operations.

Pre-deployment readiness requires a per-shift inspection covering zippers, high-visibility fabric condition, reflective tape integrity, all five Velcro breakaway points, and strap and buckle function. Post-operation protocols prohibit bleach and harsh chemical cleaners, require air drying only, and mandate storage away from direct sunlight to prevent UV degradation of high-visibility materials.

Field Application Steps

1. DON THE VEST: Prior to exiting the apparatus, put the vest on over your uniform or outerwear. Secure the front zipper fully and close the underlying Velcro flap.

2. ADJUST FOR FIT: Set the side straps first to achieve a snug torso fit. The vest must not shift or rotate during movement. Then adjust the shoulder straps to position the vest correctly on your chest and confirm that pocket access is unimpeded and weight is evenly distributed.

3. VERIFY BREAKAWAY POINTS: Confirm all five Velcro breakaway points at both shoulders, both sides, and the front zipper assembly are properly seated and firmly secured before entering the operational environment.

4. CONDUCT EQUIPMENT VERIFICATION: Open and close each zipper to confirm function. Confirm the left pocket contains triage tags, gloves, and a pen or marker. Confirm the right pocket contains immediate bleeding control items: tourniquet, pressure dressing, and gauze. Verify the radio is secured in its chest loop and trauma shears are accessible.

5. DISPLAY CORRECT IDENTIFICATION: Confirm the correct ID panel is mounted for your assigned role. Switch from the standard EMS panel to TRIAGE, COMMAND, or SAFETY as directed by incident command before making patient or team contact.

6. OPERATE ON SCENE: Use the vest as your primary tool source for initial patient contacts to keep your hands free for assessment and movement. Maintain active situational awareness of vehicle traffic at all times. High-visibility materials increase the likelihood of being seen but do not replace traffic control protocols or scene safety practices.

7. EXECUTE EMERGENCY DOFFING IF REQUIRED: If entanglement occurs, grasp the vest at the upper chest with both hands and pull firmly forward and apart. Shoulder, side, and front panels will separate. If only one side is snagged, pull sharply away from the snag point to separate the nearest Velcro seams.

8. CONDUCT POST-OPERATION INSPECTION AND CLEANING: Decontaminate per your agency's bloodborne pathogen policy if exposed. For general soiling, spot clean with mild soap and water only. Do not use bleach or harsh chemical cleaners, as these degrade high-visibility fabric and destroy reflective tape coating.

9. DRY AND STORE CORRECTLY: Air dry the vest completely before storing. Do not apply heat or machine dry. Store in a clean, dry location away from direct sunlight to prevent UV degradation of high-visibility material and reflective tape.
