Quick Overview

The StatPacks G3+ Airway Cell is a semi-rigid, foam-molded airway management module used by paramedics, flight medics, EMTs, and combat medics to organize, protect, and rapidly deploy BLS and ALS airway equipment during respiratory emergencies.

The Airway Cell integrates directly into any StatPacks G3+ main pack via a hook-and-loop rear panel, functioning as a dedicated grab-and-go module that keeps delicate airway tools separated from general trauma supplies. Its quad-panel clamshell design lays flat on deployment, presenting all equipment across four distinct panels simultaneously. This supports muscle memory and eliminates search time when seconds determine patient outcome. The green exterior follows universal EMS color coding, enabling immediate visual identification by any team member operating under duress.

Interior organization is provided by elastic loops and pockets sized to retain laryngoscope handles, Macintosh and Miller blades, ET tubes, stylets, syringes, and airway adjuncts. The semi-rigid foam-molded shell delivers impact and crush resistance to protect fiber-optic components and pre-packaged sterile items during transport. High-visibility zipper pulls allow positive-grip rapid access with gloved hands in low-light conditions, and a clear ID window in the handle accepts custom loadout labels to prevent confusion when multiple cells are staged together.

Post-deployment protocol requires the cell to be fully restocked and decontaminated before returning to operational readiness. The interior and exterior must be treated as contaminated after every use, as airway management generates aerosols and involves direct contact with bodily fluids. A partially stocked or undecontaminated cell will not be returned to the primary pack under any circumstances.

Field Application Steps

1. CONDUCT PRE-SHIFT INSPECTION: Examine the exterior shell for cuts, tears, or structural damage, and verify zipper pulls are present and travel smoothly along their full length. Open the cell and conduct a full inventory against your service's prescribed load list, confirming all items are secured in their designated loops and pockets.

2. VERIFY CONTENTS AND FUNCTIONALITY: Confirm laryngoscope light source function by assembling handle and blade and activating. Check all medications and supplies for expiration dates, and inspect sterile item packaging for any breach or damage.

3. LOCATE AND RETRIEVE ON SCENE: Open the primary medical pack and visually identify the Airway Cell by its green color. Grasp the handle and detach the cell from the hook-and-loop mounting point. Do not pull on the body of the cell.

4. STAGE FOR INTERVENTION: Place the cell on a stable, clean surface near the patient's head, accessible to the airway provider. Position the cell so it can be opened fully without obstruction.

5. DEPLOY AND PREPARE PRIMARY EQUIPMENT: Use the zipper pulls to fully open the cell and lay it flat to expose all four internal panels. Select primary equipment: laryngoscope handle, appropriate blade (e.g., Mac 3), correctly sized ET tube, stylet, and 10cc syringe.

6. FUNCTIONALLY TEST ALL COMPONENTS: Assemble the laryngoscope and confirm light function. Inflate and deflate the ET tube cuff to check for leaks before any attempt at intubation.

7. IDENTIFY BACKUP EQUIPMENT: Locate and stage backup equipment including a smaller or larger ET tube, an alternate blade, and an oropharyngeal airway (OPA) within immediate reach before beginning the intervention.

8. CONDUCT POST-INTERVENTION RECOVERY: Properly discard all disposable materials according to biohazard protocol. Segregate all reusable equipment, including laryngoscope handle and blades, for decontamination per your service's protocol, and secure any remaining unused supplies within the cell.

9. RECONSTITUTE TO OPERATIONAL STATUS: Remove the cell from service immediately after any use. Replace every item consumed, decontaminate interior and exterior surfaces using an approved virucidal and bactericidal agent with focused attention on the handle and zipper areas, and return the cell to the primary pack only when fully restocked and cleared.
