Quick Overview

The StatPacks G3+ Universal Cell is a foam-shelled modular equipment container used by trained EMS and rescue personnel to organize, protect, and transport bulky or fragile medical supplies within a G3+ or G4 system.

The Universal Cell's foam-molded semi-rigid shell maintains structural integrity under compression and shields contents from impact during transport and deployment. Its tarpaulin exterior resists abrasion and fluid penetration, supporting post-incident decontamination protocols. The approximately 470 cubic inch unstructured interior is intentional, providing maximum flexibility for irregularly shaped equipment that does not fit standardized loop-based modules. A high-contrast yellow interior lining enhances visibility of dark-colored instruments in suboptimal or low-light conditions.

The cell supports four distinct operational roles: bulky equipment storage for items such as full-size adult BVMs and splinting materials, fragile equipment protection for glucometers and handheld ultrasound devices, dedicated kit creation for mission-specific configurations such as a complete PALS or advanced airway kit, and miscellaneous supply organization to eliminate disorganized, unsorted compartments. A transparent ID window on the front face allows immediate visual identification using a user-supplied label, reducing the risk of selecting the wrong module during a critical incident.

Pre-deployment configuration follows a defined sequence: define the mission profile, load equipment logically with first-use items on top, label the ID window, and integrate the cell into the main pack. Post-incident reconstitution requires accounting for all durable equipment, decontaminating the cell per service-level infection control protocols, and inspecting zippers and shell integrity before returning the cell to operational readiness.

Field Application Steps

1. DEFINE MISSION PROFILE: Determine the specific operational role for the cell before loading, selecting from Airway, Diagnostics, Pediatrics, or General Supplies. This decision drives every subsequent packing and labeling choice.

2. LOAD EQUIPMENT LOGICALLY: Place high-priority or first-use items on top of the load. Position delicate electronics such as glucometers or pulse oximeters toward the center of the compartment, cushioned by softer supplies on all sides.

3. OBSERVE CAPACITY LIMITS: Do not exceed the 470 cubic inch capacity of the main compartment. The zipper must close without strain. Forcing a zipper closed on an overfilled cell risks zipper failure and loss of access during an emergency.

4. LABEL THE ID WINDOW: Insert a clear, legible label into the exterior transparent ID window indicating the contents or mission profile, for example "PEDS BVM" or "AIRWAY." Use high-contrast, easy-to-read text.

5. INTEGRATE INTO THE MAIN PACK: Place the packed and labeled cell into the main G3+ or G4 backpack. Standardized dimensions ensure a secure, stackable fit that prevents load shifting during movement.

6. IDENTIFY ON SCENE: Upon arrival and after scene assessment, open the main pack and visually scan integrated cells. Identify the required module using the ID window label before removing anything from the pack.

7. EXTRACT ONLY THE REQUIRED CELL: Remove only the specific Universal Cell needed for the immediate patient care task. This minimizes scene clutter and protects other sterile supplies from environmental exposure.

8. ACCESS THE COMPARTMENT: Place the cell on a stable surface. Grasp the dual high-visibility zipper pulls and open the main compartment fully before reaching inside.

9. DEPLOY EQUIPMENT: Locate the required item against the high-contrast yellow interior lining and deploy it for patient care. The yellow background accelerates visual acquisition of dark-colored instruments.

10. RECOVER ALL DURABLE EQUIPMENT: Before leaving the scene, account for all durable equipment removed from the cell during the incident. Do not depart the scene with unreturned reusable items unaccounted for.

11. DECONTAMINATE THE CELL: Clean the exterior and interior per your agency's service-level infection control protocols using an approved intermediate-level disinfectant such as CaviWipes or Sani-Cloth. Adhere strictly to manufacturer contact time instructions. Do not machine wash or submerge the cell.

12. RESTOCK AND INSPECT BEFORE RETURNING TO SERVICE: Replace all single-use items consumed during the incident. Inspect the shell for cracks, deformation, or deep gouges, verify smooth zipper function across the full track, and confirm the ID window is intact before returning the cell to the main pack for operational deployment.
