1. SELECT MOUNTING LOCATION: Identify a section of uninterrupted PALS webbing on your platform with three rows and six columns of clearance. Confirm the chosen position allows unimpeded draw of both rifle and pistol magazines and does not interfere with shouldering the rifle or accessing the holster.
2. WEAVE MOLLE STRAPS: Beginning with the first vertical strap, pass it under the first row of PALS webbing on the platform, then route it back through the corresponding row of webbing on the pouch. Continue the alternating weave pattern until the full strap length is threaded through.
3. SECURE STRAPS AND SNAP CLOSURES: Pull each strap tight to eliminate all vertical and horizontal play, then fasten the snap closure at the strap bottom. The standard is zero movement in any direction. The pouch must feel like an integral part of the platform. Repeat for all remaining vertical straps.
4. LOAD AND TUNE RIFLE MAGAZINE RETENTION: Insert one fully loaded rifle magazine into each of the three rear cells and confirm full seating. Stretch the elastic bungee cord over the top of each magazine and adjust the cord's knot position until the magazine holds firm when the carrier is inverted and shaken, but releases cleanly with one-handed extraction force.
5. LOAD AND SECURE PISTOL MAGAZINES: Insert one fully loaded pistol magazine into each of the three front cells. Fold the hook-and-loop retention flap over the magazine baseplate and press firmly to achieve full engagement of both hook and loop surfaces across the entire contact area.
6. CONDUCT RIFLE RELOAD DRILL (DRY): From a firing stance with an unloaded weapon, move the support hand to the pouch, sweep the bungee tab aside while gripping the magazine body, and draw cleanly. Repeat until the motion is fully reflexive and requires no deliberate thought.
7. CONDUCT PISTOL RELOAD DRILL (DRY): From a firing stance with an unloaded pistol, move the support hand to the pouch and practice gripping and tearing open the retention flap as a distinct first movement before drawing the magazine. Train this two-step sequence to be performed efficiently under time pressure.
8. EXECUTE STRESS TEST: Don the fully loaded plate carrier and conduct functional movement drills including running, burpees, and obstacle navigation. Confirm that all magazines remain seated and that the pouch shows zero shift on the platform after dynamic movement. If any movement is detected, re-weave and re-tension the MOLLE straps before operational deployment.
9. CONDUCT PRE-DEPLOYMENT INSPECTION: Inspect all seams and bar-tacks for fraying, check MOLLE straps and snap closures for integrity, stretch each bungee cord to confirm taut and snappy rebound, and press each retention flap closed to verify a strong hook-and-loop bond. Clean lint and debris from hook surfaces with a stiff brush if bond strength is reduced.
10. PERFORM POST-MISSION SUSTAINMENT: Empty all cells, shake out debris, and brush off caked mud after each use. For heavy soiling, hand wash with a soft brush, water, and mild soap, then air dry completely in a shaded and well-ventilated area before reloading or storing. Never machine wash or machine dry.
