Quick Overview

The Luminary Global Basic Power Outage Emergency Kit is a dedicated lighting module providing immediate and redundant illumination during unexpected power loss, enabling households, vehicle operators, and workplace personnel to navigate safely, assess hazards, and establish a secure area of operations when the grid goes down.

The kit is built around three distinct illumination capabilities. Two Pocket CREE Mini LED Flashlights deliver focused, directed light for initial environment triage, hazard identification, and occupant checks. One Collapsible LED Lantern provides 360-degree area illumination to establish a static, hands-free Area of Operations. Two Chemical Light Sticks serve as passive, battery-free pathway markers for stairwells, hallways, and bathrooms, preserving battery resources and protecting occupants from trips and falls throughout the night.

Deployment follows a five-step protocol grounded in sequential readiness. The operator ceases movement upon power failure, retrieves the nylon pouch, conducts an immediate environment scan with the flashlight, deploys the lantern to a central gathering point, and activates chemical light sticks at critical choke points. Waterproof matches are held in reserve for specific ignition needs only and are never used for general illumination.

Sustained readiness requires quarterly inspection of all components. Batteries must be replaced annually regardless of use, with lithium chemistry recommended for cold-weather and long-shelf-life performance. Chemical light sticks must be verified against their printed expiration date. The kit does not include food, water, medical equipment, or communication devices and functions as one component within a comprehensive preparedness system.

Field Application Steps

1. CEASE MOVEMENT AND RETRIEVE KIT: Upon power failure, stop all movement immediately to prevent trips or falls in an unlit environment. Verbally confirm the status of all persons present, then proceed deliberately to the pre-designated storage location and retrieve the nylon pouch.

2. CONDUCT INITIAL ENVIRONMENT TRIAGE: Remove one Pocket CREE Mini LED Flashlight from the pouch and conduct a 360-degree scan of your immediate area. Identify hazards such as broken glass, standing water, or debris before navigating the residence.

3. CHECK ALL OCCUPANTS AND ASSESS THE CIRCUIT BREAKER: Navigate the residence using the flashlight to confirm the status of all occupants. Proceed to the circuit breaker panel and assess for a resettable fault if conditions allow safe access.

4. ESTABLISH A CENTRAL AREA OF OPERATIONS: Move all occupants to a predetermined central gathering point such as a living room. Deploy the Collapsible LED Lantern on a stable, flat surface to provide hands-free, room-filling illumination for all personnel.

5. ACTIVATE AND DEPLOY CHEMICAL LIGHT STICKS: Activate each Chemical Light Stick by bending the tube firmly until you hear a snap, then shake vigorously to mix the chemicals and distribute light. Place one stick at the top and bottom of any staircase and one in the hallway leading to the bathroom to mark safe pathways for the night.

6. CONSERVE BATTERY-POWERED DEVICES: With chemical light sticks marking critical pathways, reduce active use of the flashlights and lantern to preserve battery capacity for extended outage duration. Use the second flashlight only when a second operator requires directed illumination simultaneously.

7. SECURE THE IGNITION SOURCE: Keep the Waterproof Matches sealed inside the nylon pouch until a specific, identified need for open flame arises, such as lighting a gas stove or an emergency candle. Do not deploy matches for general illumination. Follow all fire safety protocols in Section 4 before igniting any open flame indoors.

8. RESET TO FULL OPERATIONAL READINESS AFTER ANY USE: Following any deployment, replace batteries in all electronic devices that were used, replace any consumed chemical light sticks, and replace any used matches. Wipe down and dry all components before repacking and returning the pouch to its designated storage location.
