- Align the target landmark in the rear sight slot with the front sighting wire to establish a precise sight picture.
- While holding the sight picture, glance down through the magnifying lens to read the exact magnetic azimuth on the dial's red (degrees) or black (mils) scale.
- For night use, align the front glowing tritium dot between the two rear glowing tritium dots on your target.
- To follow a bearing, set the bezel to the desired azimuth, hold the compass level at your center, and turn your body until the north arrow is under the bezel's index line.
