Quick Overview

The R&B Spyder Strap is a single-unit harness system designed for the rapid and secure spinal immobilization of a patient onto a backboard or scoop stretcher. Its primary application is in pre-hospital trauma and rescue scenarios to minimize patient movement during transport, reducing on-scene time and improving safety.

Field Application Steps

  1. Position the harness over the patient, aligning the central strip with the patient's midline.
  2. Thread the color-coded straps down through the spine board handholds and back up towards the patient.
  3. Secure the straps sequentially from shoulders to feet, starting with the chest straps in an 'X' pattern to anchor the torso.
  4. Apply firm, even tension to immobilize the patient without compromising circulation or breathing.
  5. Perform a final check of all straps and assess the patient's distal pulses and respiratory status post-application.
