Quick Overview

The R.A.T. Bag is a specialized carrier for transporting a spare breathing air cylinder to a downed firefighter during Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) operations. Its durable, low-profile design is optimized for being dragged through confined spaces and debris-filled environments without snagging.

Field Application Steps

  1. Securely fasten the spare air cylinder (30, 45, or 60-min) inside the main compartment using the three internal web straps.
  2. Stage the complete air assembly (facepiece, regulator) in the main compartment, ensuring hoses are not kinked.
  3. Load mission-specific rescue tools like wire cutters or search rope into the top exterior pocket.
  4. Upon RIT activation, transport the bag by carrying or dragging it via its "Tuff Bottom" to the downed firefighter's location.
  5. At the victim, open the main compartment to provide immediate access to the life-saving air supply.
  6. After the incident, empty, decontaminate, inspect, and reload the bag to return it to a ready state.
